Better Lovers - The Wedgewood Rooms

As much as I love a big show or a festival... There is something really special about a small show in your hometown in a sweat box of a venue!

If you know Pompey, you know how special the infamous Wedgewood rooms are! A venue that if you grew up in Pompey or the surrounding areas... You definitely spent a lot of time there if you were into your music! A venue that has such huge heritage and huge hugely important memories for so many of us!

Better Lovers came about as a band when Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die decided to part ways as bands. With Greg from Dillinger heading up the project, and the other members being previously up Every Time I Die.... You just know that it was going to be incredible!

Having already seen these guys in The Cave at 2000 Trees Festival last summer... I was very excited to see them announce a UK headline tour! Especially when I saw... It was passing through pretty nearest me! Absolutely no-brainer had to make sure I was there!

This was Better Lovers first UK headline show outside of their Festival appearances last summer and they absolutely did not disappoint! If you've ever seen Greg when he would perform with Dillinger, including his climbing the stage antics... You have an idea of what to expect! The band had been described by some as a super group! As they contain members of every time I die, Dillinger escape plan and a current member of fit for an autopsy.

Hearing such incredible songs as 30 under 13 in such a small venue, that means so much to me was perfection. They play so well together, and although it is incredibly difficult to describe their style... Some describe it as math core, some hardcore and some just aren't really sure how to explain it! Better lovers are chaotic in the best possible way! If you get a chance to see these guys, I highly recommend you take that chance.... The pits are brutal, the band are incredible and you will have the best time!
