Where to begin? Growing up in Fareham I was often at local shows both in Southampton and Portsmouth and Bury Tomorrow are truly a band I can say I’ve been supporting from those very early days.
Nearly 20 years on they are bigger and better than they ever have been. Cannibal was a huge commercial success for the band, and it seemed like they were finally getting the recognition they deserved. Then with guitarist/vocalist Jason Cameron leaving and a pandemic did we almost lose Bury Tomorrow? The future was unsure, but The Seventh Sun certainly has cemented their spot in history, what an absolute joy and blast this album is!
The album opens with The Seventh Sun which is a blistering heavy opener getting you ready for the journey you are about to take with this album, and it truly is a journey with the highs and the lows all in the right places, you wont get bored of listening to this album on repeat (I’m currently on my 7th time through for the day)
There are a few real stand out moments for me, from the beautiful curated Majesty to properly one of my favourite collaborations of the year The Carcass King with Cody Frost.
I also feel lyrically this album is one of their best, and again proving why Bury tomorrow have been a band for 20 years and why they continue for another 20.
I think The Seventh Sun is already in the running for album of the year!
