These guys have become an absolute staple of any gig calendar of mine over the last 5 years or so. Having originally seen them supporting Frank Turner at his Lost Evenings Festival at The Roundhouse many years ago ... I knew from that gig onwards, they were gonna be something special!
They have since gone on to have an incredible Number One album in the UK called "Anxiety Replacement Therapy" and are currently in persuit of their second with their new album which is due out called Koko" or Keep on keeping on!
These guys have been such a under the radar band on the mainstream music scene for too long, and have recently started to gain the momentum and recognition they deserve!
Lead singer Thom Rylance is an absolute powerhouse of a front man, writing and singing incredibly personal songs about his struggles with ADHD and how it affected him growing up. A man who is so open and so willing to share his story, which has gained him a lot of fans alongside the whole band's open nature with their fan base.
Noted by the fact that, the interview before this show started was running late due to their meet and greet with fans prior! They never want to let fans down, and take time to chat to everyone they can!
The show was as always with Lottery Winners shows, utterly chaotic but in the best possible way! When you have a lead singer with ADHD it is of course possible for things to go wayward and this was evident with the Segway of everyone singing "Place your hands" by Reef mid set!
This was an incredibly special show as they were playing songs from the upcoming album live, and for the first time for a lot of fans. A personal favourite from this show, and from the album itself ... Is UFO. A masterpiece of a song which brings tears to every member of my households face whenever it plays.
Hearing this live was simply stunning, a song which you can easily invisage at a much larger venue!
They are about to go on to support Frank Tuner at his Show 3000 at Ally Pally in a few days which no doubt will gain them even more fans!
A band who are going places fast, who deserve that second number one albums and who I have no doubt will be playing venues like Ally Pally as headliners sooner rather than later!
